AUTHORITY DOG FOOD REVIEW
All of Authority’s dog food formulas contain a protein-based ingredient listed first on their ingredients label. Many of the formulas contain corn among their first five ingredients. Corn gluten meal is also sometimes listed among the first five ingredients. Dried beet pulp is also commonly included, as well as canola oil. The only listed preservative in most Authority dry dog food formulas is Mixed Tocopherols, which usually refers to Vitamin E. Other common ingredients include brown rice, oat groats, dried egg product and fish oil.
AUTHORITY DOG FOOD FORMULAS
- Puppy - Authority offers two basic protein sources in their puppy formulas – chicken and lamb. There are two general puppy formulas, which are marketed as being “real chicken” and “real lamb”. Authority also offers a special large breed formula, which is made with “real chicken”. Authority’s puppy formulas can be fed to puppies that are less than one year of age.
- Adult - Authority has several different formulas that are designed for adult dogs. These formulas can be fed to all dogs that are over one year of age. There is one general adult formula with “real chicken”, and one general adult formula with “real lamb”. These are both available as “chunk” kibble, or “mini chunk” kibble.
- Adult Senior with Real Chicken Dog Food - Authority currently only offers one dry formula for senior dogs. This formula is made with “real chicken” as its first ingredient. Corn is included as the fourth ingredient, while two of the first five ingredients are protein-based.
- Large Breed - Authority also has several large breed dog food formulas, since the nutritional requirements of large breeds are different than those of smaller breeds. These formulas are separated into large breed puppy formulas, large breed adult formulas and large breed senior formulas.
- Weight Management - Authority carries several formulas designed for weight management in adult dogs. These formulas are usually designed to have a fat content that is much lower than other formulas. As a result, the protein percentage is sometimes lower as well. These formulas can be fed to all adult dogs that are suffering from obesity.

I switched my rat terrier/chihuahua mix to authority real chicken adult at six months, mixed in with his iams puppy food and he absolutely loves authority, he used to pick the authority pieces out and leave the iams. He has a beautiful coat and solid muscles. He has never vomited due to the food I have given him. He occasionally has smelly flatulence but I attribute that to him consuming the occasional mole that he kills in the yard.
My puppy has been horribly sick since switching to Authority dog food. This is the fifth day and we went back to her previous dog food that she ate for 10 weeks. Has anyone else had this trouble?
I have been feeding both of my dogs, AustralianShep mix and Terrier mis, Authority Chicken mini chunks for a good while now. The terrier was getting the puppy formula until just recently, and I never had a problem. Maybe you switched to quickly. You should always mix the old and new food at first.
I feed Authority puppy to my pitbull puppy. I have not found any problems. The only time he gets bad gas is when he eats some cheap dog food from someone else.
