BIL JAC DOG FOOD

BIL JAC DOG FOOD

Bil Jac dog food was founded by two brothers, Bill and Jack Kelly. Bill and Jack served in World War II, and decided to found a pet food company in the 1940’s. In the company’s first day of being in business, Bill and Jack only sold six pounds of food. However, their business continued to grow over the next few decades. In the 1970’s, the Bil Jac company finally decided to start venturing into creating dry dog food formulas. The company’s delay in producing dry dog food was attributed mostly to their desire to make a dry formula that was equal in nutrition to their frozen food formulas. Today, the company still doesn’t spend a lot of money on advertising, so isn’t as well-known as some other dog food companies.

I was not present to judge attitudes etc. However, I would not be in favor of feeding carnivores a vegetation only diet. In my view dogs would do well with vegetables added. However, not as a total diet. We know & I have witnessed many times & on several continents, Canids eating the stomach contents of game taken. This is natures way. When we deviate from what is the norm, a high price is frequently paid.

I am writing to you about a very negative experience I had with one of your representatives at the FMI (Food Marketing Institute) Event in Las Vegas. I was not very familiar with your product when I came across your booth #3632 on Thursday May 13, 2010. So, I stopped because I wanted to learn more about your product and see if I would change dog foods. I asked the woman who was handing out flyers if your company carried a vegetarian dog food she said no however that is a great idea and question to ask … ( the … because I forgot his name) so she pointed to an older gentleman in a suit and said he is the one to ask. I approached the man and again asked do you carry or plan to carry a vegetarian dog food? His response was “dogs are not vegetarians” my reply “what about dog allergies….. and I started to explain my experience and research when he rudely interrupted me to say obviously we don’t need to change anything because our product is selling very well. As a representative of my company I choose not to engage in banter and turned to the female representative and a vet that was there with his dog to politely say goodbye. The interaction with this man (the chosen one to represent your company) angered me so much all I wanted to do was place blasphemy all over the internet and saturate as much negative attention I could attached to your brand. Luckily I realized that would be just as ignorant as your front line officer that was sent to represent at the FMI event. So I did some research; I have been tainted by my experience to your product nonetheless it appears that slander of the brand is not at all something I can do however I will press the issue that the representative I talked to should not ever represent your company again without a lot of education on the products and how to talk to a potential or current customer. I may be young and opinionated but I am also someone who will very soon be in a position of power either as an owner or a CEO/ founder of a food industry business and after an interaction like this, especially at a conference as powerful as the FMI I would not carry that product. I would and do care about my customers and because of his representation of your brand he out right proved he doesn’t care about any customer or the brand. My only mistake was not getting his business card as I was so appalled by his ignorance I just wanted to get away from him. I can’t from what I read on the internet say bad things as you really seem like a great company. However, Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula Ultra Premium Dog Food is the food I will strongly suggest to anyone who asks. Yes, I will and will continue to pay the $50 per bag because it works the best for my dogs’ health. Please if you do care about your customers or potential customers look into a vegetarian dog food and see how your ROI grows. At the very least please try to find this representative so he can start to represent your company properly. We dog owners love our dogs and as you know go to extreme measures to ensure their health and wellness.
Thank you for your time and reading my letter,
