    Chicken Meal: Chicken Meal is an excellent protein source. Unlike the ingredient “Chicken”, the water content has been removed from this ingredient. The AAFCO definition is the following: "Chicken which has been ground or otherwise reduced in particle size."

    Ground Barley: Ground Barley is a decent quality grain. Ground Barley is an excellent source of fiber and studies show that whole grain barley can lower cholesterol. For dogs suffering from allergies, Ground Barley is an excellent grain source.

    Ground Corn:If corn is going to be used as an ingredient in dog food we would prefer not to see it so heavily used. The current AAFCO definition for Ground Corn is:"the entire ear of corn ground, without husks, with no greater portion of cob than occurs in the ear corn in its natural state." We would prefer that Corn not be used in the first five ingredients and have at least a couple sources of meat protein listed before it.

    Rice Bran: Rice Bran is a by-product of Rice. Although Rice Bran doesn't offer the Nutrition Value Rice does, its not considered to be a bad ingredient. The current AAFCO definition for Rice Bran is the following:” the pericarp or bran layer and germ of the rice, with only such quantity of hull fragments, chipped, broken, or brewer's rice, and calcium carbonate as is unavoidable in the regular milling of edible rice."

    Chicken Fat: Chicken Fat is going to be the main source of Fat in this ingredient. Chicken Fat is a named Fat and a decent source of Fat. Ingredients listed before this one usually make up the bulk of the recipe.
