Nutrisource brand dog food formulas are produced by Tuffy’s Pet Foods. Tuffy’s Pet Foods was first founded in 1947, as a livestock feed company. The founder, Darrell “Tuffy” Nelson, eventually developed food formulas for pets with his son, Kenny Nelson.

Nutrisource brand dog food formulas usually contain meat and meat meal as their first two ingredients. Some other ingredients that are commonly among the top five include brown rice, white rice, barley, oatmeal and chicken fat. Other ingredients sometimes include fish meal, dried egg product, corn gluten meal, beet pulp, natural flavors, flax seeds, brewers yeast and sunflower oil.

- NutriSource Lamb Meal and Rice is suitable for all adult dogs over one year of age. The Guaranteed Analysis of this formula contains 22% protein and 13% fat.
- NutriSource Large Breed Adult is suitable for large breed adult dogs that are over one year of age. The Guaranteed Analysis of this formula contains 23% protein and 14% fat.
- NutriSource Large Breed Lamb Meal and Rice is suitable for large breed adult dogs over one year of age. The Guaranteed Analysis of this formula contains 23% protein and 14% fat.

According to some reviewers, Nutrisource recently changed their formulas, making them higher quality than they were previously. Some dog owners report benefits from Nutrisource, such as a lower intake of food, weight maintenance, improved digestive, shiny coat and increased energy. According to some reviewers, Nutrisource had previously included “poultry fat” instead of chicken fat, “poultry digest” and other undesirable ingredients. Most of these ingredients have been removed in Nutrisource’s current formulas. A few dog owners reported that their dogs experienced some digestive problems, such as vomiting, when switched to Nutrisource brand dog food formulas.

My puppy was experiencing loose stools for several months and the vet insisted she should eat a certain brand of dog food (Science Diet). My mother suggested the food was bothering her system so I switched to Nutri Source. It has been just one week and the change is significant! No more loose stools or up in the middle of the night going to the bathroom. She loves this food and gobbles it up and seems extra energetic for a puppy. My only wish is that we had figured it out sooner.
My daughter has a westie that has had skin problems since she got her. We’ve tried every kind of food out there but the Grain Free Lamb and Rice was the only thing that handled the problem. Her skin is great and her coat looks great. Can’t say enough about the end result for this dog! I’d recommend it!
I began trying Nutrisource because my chihuahuas were scratching alot. I tried the Lamb and rice meal and the problem has been cured,the dogs love the taste of the food, and I don’t have to give them as much.
The down fall is this food is quite pricey and it doesn’t stay on the shelves at PetWarehouse.
This food was recommended at our pet store. Our Miniature Pinscher was experiencing extreme digestive problems, constantly. We were going to purchase some medicine for him and the clerk recommended we try the NutriSource, and he told us the ingredients. Our dog is no longer sick, is extremely energetic, his stool is decreased, coat shiny, and he likes it. We have a young Shih Tzu, and he also likes the food. He didn’t suffer with the digestive problems.
