NUTRO ULTRA DOG FOOD

NUTRO ULTRA DOG FOOD

Nutro Ultra Holistic brand dog food formulas are produced by Nutro Pet Products. Nutro Pet Products is currently located in Industry, California. The company was first founded in 1926, when a British businessman bought a dog food company and named it Nutro Products. Nutro was subjected to a lot of scrutiny in 1998, when it was suspected that their foods contained pentobarbital. Pentobarbital is an anesthetizing drug that is often used to euthanize animals.

NUTRO ULTRA CUSTOMER RATINGS

Customer reviews about Nutro Ultra brand dog food formulas are relatively mixed. Some dog owners do not trust the Nutro company due to the bad press it has received in the past. There was one instance of a dog developing pancreatitis, since the diet is supposedly too high in fat. Some dogs seem to develop diarrhea, frequent urination, bad gas and vomiting when fed Nutro brand pet foods. However, some dogs  seem to be able to eat a diet of Nutro Ultra Holistic dog food without any significant problems. Most dogs seem to like the taste of the formula, with no reports of dogs refusing to eat it.

I had fed my dogs Nutro Ultra Holistic for about 1 1/2 – 2 years without incident. Since Nutro’s takeover by Purina, both dogs developed vomiting with emesis consisting of large amounts of undigested and partially digested food. anywhere from 30 minutes to 12 hours after the ingestion of a feeding. Switched to another brand of dogfood about 2 months ago and the problems have ceased. I had a bag of the Nutro Ultra Holistic biscuits which I decided to go ahead and use. I opened them 3 days ago and have found some Ol’ Roy biscuits mixed in with them. I guess my point is that, do we really know what we’re feeding. If there has been this significant of a change in the food formula it makes since that my dogs couldn’t tolerate it.

My dog had been eating nutro ultra holistic for a few years with no obvious negative effects, after being on food from the vet for allergies (skin related). We switched him to the senior formula about a year ago and since we have noticed an increase of vomiting and lethargy. Over the last 2 months he has had diarrhea and bloody stools with urgency to go, we put him on bland food (chicken and rice) on a rec by the vet and everything went back to normal. Upon reintroducing the nutro he immediately had bowel issues again and vomiting. Went to the vet, nothing found to be wrong with him other than the symptomology. Back on bland food again, everything returned to normal, attempted to return to nutro and an immediate decline again. I am convinced its the nutro senior food. We started him on new food last night and I am hoping for positive results.

I have a Miniature Long Haired Daschund that is 3 yrs old and he was eating Eukanuba Daschund Brand Food since 2008 and he was perfectly fine we then switched him over to Nutro Ultra and we blended it and then fully switched to it over the past 4 weeks since blending it he has been having loose wet stools and then when we completely switched over he has been vomiting and still wet stools. I am VERY DISSAPPOINTED in this expensive dog food that is supposed to be better for dogs when it is obviously worse not to mention we switched back to Eukanuba Daschund Brand and his poop is back to normal and no more vomiting. Also what we have noticed during the Nutro Ultra time frame that he has been trying to eat our food and we have been having to closely monitor where our food is. Switched back and he no longer is demanding human food. BUYER BEWARE!!

Blue buffalo-nothing more than a marketing company….. Don’t even manufacture there own food which results in different guaranteed analysis results thru out the country. They use 4 different co-packers which sources their ingredients from different suppliers in all 4 co- packing plants !

I have a German Shepherd puppy who is quite a picky eater. I switched because of her style of life and play, along with my own personal desire of having a muscular and extremely fit dog. Her old food was doing well just not quite what I was looking for. I switched her from Hill’s Science Diet for Puppies to Nutro Ultra Holistic Super Food for Puppies and I love it. Since she switched I have noticed more energy, a lot leaner muscle, great and almost precise timed bowel movements. Once I put a cup of it in her bowl with the Hill’s she ate the Nutro before the Hill’s. Bottom line: she’s one of the fittest dogs I’ve seen, very energetic, with great bowel movements, and I would suggest to anyone looking to switch to Nutro Ultra Holistic Super Food to take into consideration the type of dog temperament you would like. Her spike in energy has increased 10 fold. I would recommend to anyone looking into a high quality dog food or someone with a dog that has many allergies.

Nutro representatives are brainwashed. Waltham university has no right experimenting on dogs. Nutro is BAD no matter which way you view it, corporate or personal. Blue Buffalo and Natures recipe = happy healthy pets.

We have been feeding our dog Nutro Puppy for about 1 month. He went from extremely playful to very lethargic. After reading many complaints on consumer research. I will not continue to feed my dog this food.

My 4 month old chihuahua loves it! was feeding him Purina puppy chow till i heard about better dog foods….I switched him to Nutro Ultra Holistic Super foods for puppys without mixing it to his old dog food with out any problems. The person who sold it to me at my local pet store which was called Feathers and Fins, told me to go ahead and feed it to him without mixing it with his puppy chow. Amazingly, no problems!! His stool was firm and I noticed his doggy smell went away! BTW he’s been on it for 3 weeks now. Thanks Nutro!!!

I have a 2 1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel . . . I switched to Nutro Ultra a few weeks ago because of a recommendation from PetsMarts sales associate on the floor. My dog seemed to like it . . . ate food dry which she normally doesn’t. She has gone through about 3 bags (a few weeks / couple of months later) and now she is experiencing massive diarrhea. I switched her to home made rice and chicken mixture and she started doing better . . . then I switched her back to Nurto Ultra and she is back to being sick in her stomach. Based off my internet research, it seems other dogs are experiencing this too. Wanted to share my experience on this forum. I will not be giving my dog any more Nutro Ultra.

I’ve had my Keeshond on Ultra for three years and she’s thrived on it, and it’s also the first kibble I’ve found that she will eat dry in her bowl!

  12. juliet says:

My wire fox terrier developed what are called “psychomotor seizures” while on this food after switching from the adult version of the same. She was very anxious and seemed to lose her appetite over the course of the 10 lb bag. Because she also has other health issues (hypo-thyroid and is prone to UTI’s) I can’t blame this food entirely, but it WAS the only different element in her life and I can’t help but wonder if this batch of food contributed to her problem. We’ve dropped Nurto Senior Ultra and she seems like her appetite is already better. I would be very curious to know if anyone else’s dog develops what looks like panic attacks and loss of appetite on this food.

  13. SacramentoPugOwner says:

I switched to this food because of the ‘natural’ ingredients and my pug needs to lose weight (switched to weight maintenence) . My pug was previously eating a food with artificial colors and yellow corn. I liked that this food did not contain any artificial colors, no beef (allergies) and no yellow corn. I grandually switched over (mixing both foods together) however the pug seemed lethargic after eating this food which concerned me.
