Solid Gold brand dog food is produced by Solid Gold Health Products for Pets, Inc. Solid Gold was first founded in the 1970's, in El Cajon, California. Today, the headquarters for this company are still located in El Cajon, California. Solid Gold has many distribution centers, in countries such as Japan, Germany and Finland.
SOLID GOLD DOG FOOD REVIEW
Solid Gold dry dog food formula is currently available in eight different varieties. Solid Gold does not contain corn among its first five ingredients, and always has a protein source as its first ingredient. There is currently one formula sold by Solid Gold that is grain-free (Barking at the Moon). Since some of Solid Gold's formulas contain exotic proteins such as bison, they may be suitable for dogs that have food-based allergies.

SOLID GOLD CONSUMER RATINGS
Most reviews of Solid Gold brand dog food are positive. Dog owners claim that it helps their dogs have a healthier coat, and increases their overall energy level. Due to the high quality of the ingredients contained in Solid Gold dog food formulas, many customers switch to it off of lower quality dog food formulas. Some dog owners also said that Solid Gold formulas cured their dogs of food-based allergic reactions from other dog food formulas. The few negative reviews about Solid Gold stated that some dogs with sensitive digestive systems seem to experience an upset stomach when switched to Solid Gold brand dog food formulas.

I tried to feed my puppy Wee Bit, but he will not go near it. In fact, it ran in the opposite direction. So I tried Diamond Naturals, and he seems to love it! I’m just glad he eating voluntarily without me having to chase him down.
I’ve fed SG dog foods to my dogs for years. My beagle had severe food allergies. Hund N Flocken has limited ingredients, and my beagle flourished on it. My vet, who initially recommended it to me, fed Hund N Flocken to his own dogs. I also fed it to my corgi, since it was easier to feed both dogs the same thing. When they got older, I switched them to Holistic Blendz. My beagle lived to a ripe old age of 15, despite taking a lot of meds for his allergies in his younger years. My corgi is now over 14 and still doing well. I recently switched my two year old rescue dog from Blue Buffalo to Hund N Flocken, and she suddenly has a lot more energy. All 3 of my dogs have loved SG. I don’t understand the comment above about the food smelling bad. All dog food smells bad to humans! This food is expensive, but it’s easier than home cooking. It’s easier to find now that Petco carries it. I used to have to buy it from my vet.
I work at Pet supermarket. Our most popluar and most recommended dog food is Nutro. It is all natural and is rich in glucostamine and chondroiten (excuse the spelling). We also carry blue buffalo, solid gold, taste of the wild, eukanuba, AND canidae. If you really want to see a difference in your dog I highly suggest Nutro, you will see the difference and your dog will eat less and poop less because they are getting the nutrients they need. ;D
My mini pin is about five months old and i have switched from three other brands to solid gold hundchen flocken puppy lamb. She just simply love it and infact she asked for more ! Her appetite is much better than before and she is very satisfied with her meals.
I was broke for one month and unfortunately put my dog on Pedigree. She was biting off patches of hair. I thought she started getting fleas. I put her back on Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken adult dog food. Now her coat is shiny and she no longer itches or sheds a lot. I have a very young Basenji-Sheperd mix. It is awesome stuff!
My dogs (all 6 of them) will not touch the stuff. When I contacted Solid Gold, they essentially said “too bad.” It was the very worst customer experience I’ve ever had with a dog food company. I have grave concerns about the veracity of the so called ingredients in this dog food. Most premium dog food does not look or smell as nasty as this. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this dog food since all six of mine won’t touch it. A dog food that they do love to eat is Organix. I had to buy Solid Gold (I was told it was a premium brand) when my pet shop ran out of Organix. Bad decision.
We started feeding our dogs Wolfking and wolfpuppy puppy dry food and canned green tripe over 2 years ago and our dogs love it and it is very healthy for them. I also feed my cats solid gold dry food. I buy my food directly from the owners in El Cajon and they are very knowledgeable. I would not buy any other pet food.
Is manufactured by diamond, as is at least one type of wellness, chicken soup, taste of the wild. Diamond manufacturers MANY products, so if you are trying to stay away from diamond and the constant “accidents”, check carefully.
We only feed Solid Gold to our dogs. We switch up between Hund-n-Flocken, WolfKing Adult Dog, and Millennia Beef and Barley.
This is the best dog food you can buy.
