TASTE OF THE WILD DOG FOOD
Taste of the Wild brand dog food formulas are all manufactured in the USA. Currently, there are three manufacturing facilities in the US that make Taste of the Wild. They are located in South Carolina, Missouri and California. Taste of the Wild only uses meats that are free of antibiotics and hormones. In addition to this, there are no chemical preservatives in any of their formulas. Instead, Taste of the Wild uses a blend of mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) in order to keep the fat ingredients from going rancid. Vitamin C and Rosemary Extract are also used as mild preservatives.

I have a 3 yr old shep/aust shep. She has anal gland problems. I have only had her since Sept. She is now on Blue Buffalo, but still has soft poops, she also scratches alot, she chews her feet, and scratches alot on her belly. I am thinking of trying the Taste of the wild. Will this help her poops to harden?
I would like to know the source of the salmon & fish. Are any of the protein sources given hormones in their feed? Has anyone verified what is used to preserve the fish? I also wish the inner liner was foil like several of the other super premium foods use. The plastic lining can leech chemicals into the food. The foil liner prevents this.
Is this food good for siberian huskys?
Dogs would not ‘go fishing’ in the wild. You also need to consider the source of the salmon. Farm raised fish live in and ingest their own waste. This makes them toxic for food. Wild salmon are living in water that is naturally being filtered all the time. Bison and venison are far more ‘natural’ foods for dogs. I feed that version of Taste of the Wild and have had amazing results with my show dogs.
Anyone else have behavior issues while on TOTW? My now-5-month-old Old English Sheepdog puppy has been eating the lamb recipe for about 6 weeks. Doesn’t seem to like the taste much — he won’t eat it unless I mix it with wet food — and it also seems that I’m picking more up off the grass than I’m putting into the dog. Besides that, though, it seems that right after I feed him, he gets very naughty — aggressive play, biting, etc. I know it’s good food — just wondering if my guy is reacting to something in it.
Christine, how often do you exercise your dog? I don’t believe it is the food so much as the dog is challenging you. Puppies are like all children and will push and push, you just gotta let him know your boss and thats not acceptable behavior
I have a 14yr old crossbreed, a 3yr old Old English Sheepdog and an 18month old Siberian Husky. Finding a food they all love and that keeps them all in superb condition is no easy task, but taste of the wild ticks every box! They are in fantstic condition, their coats are like silk and they are full of energy. We have tried other, cheaper foods but kept coming back to taste of the wild. even our cats love the feline taste of the wild!
@jasperyogi – careful with your felines eating the taste of the wild dog food. My cats love it as well and kept getting into the dogs food, however we learned the hard way that the protein is too much for cats’ kidney’s to process. Both of my male cats ended up urinating blood and had clumps of crystals in their urine. We were lucky we caught it in time as UTI’s in male cats especially can be deadly.
@Sarah, jasperyogi said his cats like the TOTW cat food, not that they eat the dog food. I don’t own a cat myself but I can imagine dog food would not be the best thing to let them eat. Common sense perhaps.
Just got the Bison flavor and can’t believe how much my dogs love it, even my picky eater was chomping it down! Looking forward to more great years with my pups
My little mutt or as they’re calling them here Goberian loves this food. She’s tried all the flavors and it keeps her lean and completely healthy. Truth be told, she eats better than me. LOL!
Hi,
I have a norwegian scent hound and she’s an active hunter. Great shiny fur, white tip-ex like teeth, firm paws. I’m feeding her High Prairie and even she had gas problems that have disappeared after 6-8 weeks since the first time she got totw. No stool probs. Lean body. I’m very satisfied with totw. Only “prob” I see is that her claws grow like there’s no tomorrow and need cutting every two weeks.
Distribution is somewhat problematic in Sweden but is promised to get better. Imo the best dog food on the market.

Hi there
This is food is great, both my 12 year old Beagle and 2 year old Cockapoo love it. The transistion to the new food was easy peasy, no diareah or anything, just more please. It seems a bit pricey but to prolong my dogs life, its worth it. I got the Prairie Wild and they just love it to bits. Good luck.

I’ve tried the salmon, buffalo and now the lamb..I dont know if its the dog food but since my dog has been eating this he has not had a gran mal seizure. That alone is worth the price of this food. With the lamb, his stools have firmed up and he’s doing great. I really am glad that I tried this food .My dogs luv it !
My chihauau is the reason I tried the dog food. He is 9 yrs old and Diabetic–therefore he can NOT have any corn nor rice. I must be very careful with his dog food. Taste of the Wild fits in this category. I do not have to worry about those ingredients being in the food and can feel good about him eating it. He loves the Lamb for sure. Bison no. So far that’s all he’s eaten.
I had a wonderful Golden Retriever who at 1 year started having seizures he was on Taste of the Wild Salmon unfortunately it never at pod his seizures after 4years and numerous medications the meds just weren’t controlling the seizures and it was the norm for him to have them 2/3 times a week. Finally it got to the point he was having 3 and 4 seizures daily. Finally realized this was no life for him and we laid him to rest . We now have a Golden Doodle and he is loving Taste of the Wild Salmon……….great food !!
Best dog food hands down short of raw salmon and sweet potatoes. I have Champion bloodline Siberian Huskies who play/run from 8 am until 7-8 pm daily. I’ll take them Skijoring and they pull me on a skateboard, this keeps them going even when other huskies are well worn out. They always want more, perfect teeth and no bad breath, firm stool.
@ Sam……raw salmon would be toxic to a dog.
Which formula do you feed your huskies? I have them on raw right now and have tried taste of the wild duck formula and they like it. But I would like them to eat the fish one as well. I have two siberian huskies and I found that the raw diet does them quite well, there coat is soft and shiny but the kibble is so much easier.
Every dog who has tasted Taste of the Wild dry buffalo flavor eats the meal then stands over the bowl waiting for more. It’s uncanny. They love it. It has high protein if you want an active dog.
I have two dogs, a schnauzer,13yrs. & a chichuaua 9 yrs, who did not eat the bison flavor unless the were practically starving. It also gave them both very loose stools. They had been on Taste of the Wild for over a month–but the Lamb flavor previously–we wanted to give them a new flavor choice so we chose the bison–even after 3 wks. they still would not eat it very well.
